A Showcase of Architectural Splendour
The Guernsey Design Awards are not just a pat on the back for architects and builders; they’re a testament to the island’s commitment to aesthetic brilliance and functional design. This year’s entries span a spectrum of styles and purposes, each telling a unique story of vision and craftsmanship. From the humble yet innovative projects under £250k to the grandeur of new residential builds, each nominee has the potential to reshape the island’s architectural landscape.
Small Projects, Big Impact
Don’t let the “Small Projects” category fool you. These entries may come with a modest price tag, but their impact on the community and the environment can be substantial. It’s often in these pint-sized projects that we see some of the most daring and creative solutions come to life.
Residential Renovations: A Nod to the Past, A Leap into the Future
The Single Residential Renovation/Extension category is where the old meets new. These projects challenge architects to honour the history of a property while seamlessly integrating modern conveniences and design principles. It’s a delicate dance between preservation and innovation, and when done right, it’s nothing short of magical.
New Builds: The Future of Guernsey Living
Then there’s the Single Residential New Build category, which is all about starting from scratch. These projects offer a blank canvas to architects, allowing them to push the boundaries of design and set new benchmarks for living spaces in Guernsey.
Have Your Say in the People’s Choice Award
While the main categories are judged by a panel of experts, the People’s Choice Award is where you, the public, get to weigh in. It’s a chance to voice your opinion on which project you believe stands out in terms of design, functionality, and contribution to the local environment. Voting is a simple yet powerful way to support the architects and designers who are shaping the future of Guernsey’s built environment.
