Brittany Ferries adds extra sailing to bring rally fans home

A calm harbour scene in Jersey, Channel Islands, at dusk, with a large ferry visible at the quayside preparing to depart.

In brief: Brittany Ferries is adding an extra sailing between Guernsey and Jersey on Sunday 14 February 2026 to help motorsport fans and competitors travel home after the Guernsey Rally. The eighth edition of the two-day event runs on 12 and 13 February, featuring 28 stages across approximately 50 stage miles.

A Ferry Good Idea for Rally Fans

If you have ever tried to organise travel around a major island event, you will know the particular joy of discovering that the ferry timetable was designed with absolutely no knowledge that the event exists. Brittany Ferries, to its credit, has decided to do something about that. Bailiwick Express reports that the company is laying on an additional sailing from Guernsey to Jersey on Sunday 14 February, timed specifically to get competitors, officials and spectators home after the Guernsey Rally.

The extra departure complements an existing sailing from Jersey to Guernsey on Wednesday 10 February, meaning Jersey-based crews and supporters have a clear route over to the island ahead of the event and a guaranteed way back once the dust, quite literally, has settled.

The Rally Itself

The eighth Guernsey Rally takes place over Friday 12 and Saturday 13 February, with 28 stages covering approximately 50 stage miles across the two days. Karl Marshall and Caren Vidamour, Chairman and Director respectively of the Guernsey Rally, said that Brittany Ferries had “gone above and beyond” to support the event, and that the additional sailings would help Jersey and UK competitor teams, volunteers and supporters plan their travel.

Paul Acheson, Sales and Marketing Director at Brittany Ferries, said: “Island life doesn’t stand still and our timetable shouldn’t either. When an event brings Guernsey and Jersey together, we want to make sure it can go ahead and that everyone who wants to take part can get there and home again with ease.”

Mr Acheson added that he had attended last year’s rally himself and wanted to help raise the profile of events that could bring more visitors to Guernsey and support the local tourism sector. Sailings can be booked online, through travel agents or by calling 0345 609 1024.

What This Means for Jersey

For Jersey motorsport enthusiasts, this is straightforwardly good news. The Channel Islands have a proud rallying tradition, and the inter-island rivalry that plays out on stage roads is considerably more civilised than most forms of competition between the two bailiwicks. Having a reliable, event-aligned ferry connection removes one of the practical headaches that can put people off travelling to support or compete in events across the water.

It is also a small but telling example of how transport operators can work constructively with event organisers to make island life a little more joined-up. The tourism benefit flows both ways: Jersey visitors spending money in Guernsey, and the goodwill generated by a well-supported event reflecting positively on the whole region.
