# EY Channel Islands promotes more than 60 staff in latest round

**In brief:** EY has announced more than 60 promotions across its Jersey and Guernsey offices. Monica De Freitas has been promoted to Senior Manager within the Assurance team in Guernsey, and a number of colleagues have stepped up to Manager roles across several practice areas.

## A Round of Promotions at EY Channel Islands

Professional services giant EY has marked another year with a substantial round of internal promotions spanning both its Guernsey and Jersey operations, with Bailiwick Express reporting more than 60 individuals progressing within the business.

The headline promotion goes to Monica De Freitas, who has moved up to Senior Manager in EY’s Assurance team in Guernsey. “I’m delighted to take this next step in my career with EY,” she said. “As a Senior Manager, I’m looking forward to building even stronger relationships with our clients, developing our people and contributing to the continued growth of our Assurance practice in Guernsey.”

## Who Else Has Moved Up?

Several other colleagues have been promoted to Manager level across a range of practice areas. In Assurance, Dean Cheng Sang Fong, Jerin George, Odelia Naicker, and Teekshana Woodun have all stepped up. Core Business Services sees Lindsay Johnson, Megha Sharma, and Sharlene Pollock join the Manager ranks, while Trishia Pasia has been promoted to Manager in Technology Risk.

Dan Saunders, EY Channel Islands Managing Partner, offered his congratulations to all those promoted, describing the round of progressions as reflecting “the hard work, commitment and contribution of every one of them.” He added that EY’s ambition is to be “a place where talented people can build ambitious, rewarding careers in the Channel Islands,” arguing that developing staff internally also strengthens the expertise and capabilities available to clients, backed by the wider EY global network.

## What It Means for the Channel Islands

For Jersey and Guernsey, rounds of promotion like this one are a quiet but meaningful indicator of the health of the professional services sector, which remains a cornerstone of both islands’ economies. Finance and professional services firms that invest in growing their own talent locally reduce their dependence on importing expertise from elsewhere, which matters in a jurisdiction where housing costs and competition for skilled workers are perennial concerns.

A cohort of more than 60 promotions in a single cycle also signals that EY’s Channel Islands business is not merely ticking over: it is expanding its bench of experienced professionals, which in turn supports the broader financial services ecosystem that so many Jersey and Guernsey businesses, and indeed residents, depend upon.

## The NSFW Perspective

There is something quietly refreshing about a story that is simply good news: a firm investing in its people, those people working hard enough to earn recognition, and a business signalling confidence in the Channel Islands as a place worth building careers. In an era when corporate announcements tend to involve restructuring, redundancies, or impenetrable ESG commitments, a straightforward promotion round is almost nostalgically wholesome. Well done to all involved, and here is hoping the next round is even longer.
